Older Adults
At First United Methodist Church, through our Older Adult Council, we care for our older members with Christian love. Crucial to the council's work is visitation and support for our shut-ins. Programs include: Fall and Spring luncheons, with entertainment; our Buddy System; as well as Helping Hands. We also organize and sponsor seminars on issues such as the grief process, elder parent care, safety, medical concerns, and legal matters. We value our older members not only for God's work they have already done, but the blessings they bring to the church family every day.
As a caregiver, you belong to a very large community. Connecting with other caregivers can foster hope and provide guidance as well as emotional and spiritual support as you face issues surrounding everyday care giving.
Please join us on Thursdays @ 5:00 p.m. in the Discovery Room of First United Methodist Church located at 1305 S. Main Street. This group will continue to meet the first THURSDAY of each month!
We want to offer a safe place to share emotions and experiences, seek and give advice, and exchange practical information together.
