Missions

Upcoming Mission Projects:

Can you help a child have a Merry Christmas this year? Once again, we have the names of several families in Hopkinsville who struggle to make ends meet. We’re asking Sunday School classes, sermon groups, Bible studies, or just families and friends to go together to provide Christmas gifts and food for a Christmas meal. You determine how much you want to spend, but typically, people choose a couple of toys and an item of clothing for each child and shop for groceries for a Christmas meal or give a gift card to Kroger, Wal-Mart, etc. If you would Adopt-A-Family this Christmas, please contact the church office!

At First United Methodist, we seek to go into the community and world to serve in Christ’s name through missions.  In addition to service projects performed by Sunday School classes, United Methodist Women, and youth, our church family serves through many organized mission projects throughout the year.  Among these are:
  • Great Day of Service
  • Can Do!
  • Food Pantry
  • Angel Food Ministry
  • Adopt-A-Family
  • Valentine Love Baskets
  • Prisoner Angel Tree
  • Canton Street Neighborhood
  • School tutors and mentors
  • Salvation Army bellringers and soup kitchen
In addition, we support the following agencies with volunteers and monetary contributions:
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Aaron McNeil Crisis Relief Center
  • Salvation Army
  • Sanctuary
  • St. Luke's Free Clinic
We also financially support United Methodist missionaries to Thailand and a pastor in Uganda.
